PPTP Client Configuration


Windows XP

When using Windows XP, a client will have to create a new connection to Syneto using the new connection wizard. The client will need to know:

  • The IP address of Syneto
  • Her user name
  • Her password

 

Windows Server 2008

From “Network and Sharing Center” choose “Connect to a network” and then click on “Setup a connection or network”:
 

 

Then choose to setup a dial-up or VPN connection:
 

 

Choose to connect through a VPN:
 

 

Then setup connection parameters:
 

 

Type your user name and password and after that click “Connect”:
 

 

MacOS X 10.5 Leopard

On Mac OS X 10.5 you will have to create a new VPN network interface by going to “System Preferences”, choosing “Network” and clicking on the + (plus) sign. There you will have to choose PPTP as the VPN Type and choose a suitable name for your connection.
 

 

Then you will have to configure the Syneto’s external IP address and the user name that will connect using PPTP:
 

 

Now you will have to configure your password in the “Authentication Settings …” dialogue:
 

 

Finally, all you have to do is click “Apply” and then “Connect”. If you checked the box “Show VPN status in menu bar” you will also be able to start and stop the VPN connection from there:
