Licensing


Several functionalities of the Syneto Storage are available only with a special license. Machines with a total storage size of less than 1 TB don’t need licenses. They run indemo mode and have all features enabled by default.

Trial licenses (with a time limit) are available upon request.

Available licenses

  • Base - Allows the management of up to a maximum number of TB of storage space (allowed limit). The license expires, blocking the interface, when the used disk space grows beyond the allowed limit (by adding new disks or replacing existing disks with larger ones).
  • Software maintenance - Grants access to software updates and the Syneto technical support. This license should be activated using the form available at www.syneto.net/en/support/register-appliance. The Maintenance license has a fixed duration (3 months, 1 year etc.)
  • Disk caching - Allows SSD cache disks to be used in disk pools.
  • Remote backup client - Incrementally send backups to another storage appliance (disaster recovery).
  • Remote backup server - Receive backups from another storage appliance.
  • Fiber channel - Use fiber channel connectivity
  • Fiber channel – Manage Fiber channel ports.
  • Datacenter: small business – Manage basic ESXs, view datastore and virtual machine details. Virtual machine consolidation.
  • Datacenter: enterprise – Manage licensed vCenters/ESXs, view datastore and virtual machine details. Virtual machine consolidation.

Adding a license

The text of each license is digitally signed and looks like this:

To load a license, do the following:

  • copy the license content
  • click New license
  • paste the content in the box that appears
  • click Add
