Notifications

Introduction

The storage can send email notifications when different events happen. Notifications can be sent when:

  1. hardware faults occur
  2. new software update is available (only if automatically check for updates is enabled)
  3. folder or virtual disk usage is above user defined limits (limits higher than 90% are not reccomended)

Configuration

The notifications can be configured from the Settings->Notifications page. Use the “On/Off” toggle to enable or disable notifications:

By default notification will be sent with the local mailing service of the storage. This can be changed by clicking on “Configure email server”,  opening the email settings.

You can configure the email settings using one of the 2 systems:

  1. local service - uses the Storage’s system to send email. You don’t need to specify any additional parameters
  2. SMTP server - here you must add your SMTP server and its port, choose the authentication mechanism

Next, add the email recipients. This can be done by clicking on the New recipient button from the Recipients section.

After you configure the mail settings and add some recipients, press the Send test email button to check your settings.

Software update notifications

Please refer to the Software update article on how to configure the update system.

Viewing faults and acknowledging them

On the web interface, faults will be displayed on the Dashboard page. You can view details by clicking Show details. Acknowledged faults can be hidden using the Hide and Hide all buttons.
