Unable To Open A Folder Shared Via CIFS On Mac OS X Lion


Problem

The folder “FolderName” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents.

This is a known issue in Mac OS X Lion.

 

Solution

1. The folder can be accessed from a console.

2. From the finder: right click on that folder > Make alias

Now you can access the alias.

3. From the finder: right click on that folder > Get info > Sharing & Permissions

Change your user Privileges to Read & Write

If you need to access a sub folder make an alias or change permissions for that sub folder
